221g(Blue)-Passport Request,Case under review

Hi ppl,

I was given the blue form on Oct 21st,2007 & i submitted the relevant documents on 23rd . There was no update until Dec. 21st when they mailed me (they couriered the blue form) asking for my passport. I sent it to them on Dec 27th,2007.
Waited until yesterday and mailed the consulate , they replied saying, my docs are still under review.
I don't understand why they asked for my passport if the docs are still under review

Any help in this regard is appreciated.
