H1-B Visa

Hai,
Iam currently on H4-status.I intend to apply for H1-B visa for April 2008.
If I get the H1-B approval in the lottery then iam clear that i will be on H1-B
status. Will I need to work as soon as I get the approval i.e. from october 2008. If I dont start working immediately will the H1-B status expire.

Your approved H1 will state your start date is only OCt 1, 2008 until then you are in H4 status.

urgent, H1B verification/Stay in USA

Hi there,
I had my H1B visa interview today. The visa officer said, they need to verify some more information at the Washington office and said it would take a month.
She said they will call me ones my verification is done. She returned my I797 and the passport. My question is, though I have my H1B approval notice (Oct 2006 to Sept 2010), am I eligible to stay in US. Or am I illegal and go back to India and wait. The VO also said that I could get the stamping from India. I'm confused, and worried. Any help regarding this would be highly appreciated!
