  • Administrative processing.

    Hi all,

I first faced the interview for H1-B on 5th august 2007. VO gave me the HOLY 221g for submitting additional docs from the employer. On 28th december 2007 I submitted those docs that VO asked for. They took my passport and told me to visit embassy on 13th January. [Today]. I went there and faced the VO again. The officer gave back my passport and told me "We need some Administrative processing, we will call you after the procesing is done."

Anyone, could you please share me what this "Administratve process is?" I meant what they verify on this process? Along with that what's the length of hope to get the visa with this type of processing?

    Advance thanks.

    Hi there,
I have faced the same problem at the consulate. I went for my H1B stamping, and they gave me 221g form and said they need further administrative processing. They said it will take atleast a month. Can you please tell me which country you visited for stamping? Are you already working in US? Please do let me know as i'm in the same boat! Any information would be very helpful. If I get to know things, I will definitely update you!

    Thank you

Administrative processing took 6 months for me. They will check with all the proof of docs you have submitted. Be patient. Nothing else you can do in this situation.

Hi I am from Bangladesh and I am not in USA. Here is the total summary:

When I first faced the interview on 5th August, they gave me the plain white 221g asking additional documents.

When I faced second time with additional docs, they give me a small paper-token givining a trace number [ YYYY ] and kept my passport saying that I need to go to embassy someday on January and pick up the passport.

When I went on somedate Januray, the embassy was off, the appointment was rescheduled on another day on January.

When I went on anotehr day January...after spending sometimes, they gave my passport back and told me "we need administrative processing, so we will call you when the processing is done". So on the last day, they didnt give me no papers but passport back.

        So what do you think?

And then, I meant after six months, did you get the visa?

Yes, they sent me a letter asking me to attend the consulate on any date. When I went to attend, I was issued the visa.
