H4 to H1 and Green Card question..please help

I am currently on H4 on my spouse's H1. We are planning to file Green card through my spouse's employer. Next year (april, 2008), I am planning to change my status from H4 to H1. What will happen to our Green card petition, if I change my status from H4 to H1? Will my name be excluded from GC petition, if i change my status after we file for GC?? Can it affect my spouse's GC petition as well? Please help.

Your present immigration status (or change to any other non immigration status) H1/H4/F1/L1 etc does not matter for your green card through your spouse.

It does not matter even if you are in your home country.
