    H1 Transfer Contract

I am new in US, i got a H1 from Comp (A) and i am working on contract with company (B).

The company i am currently working in i.e. (A) has an employee contact for 1 year in which it is stated that i cannot join other employeer\client(B) until given in written by them other wise they can take a legal action on it. My friends told me that it is just a bogus contract which they show to threaten guys, they cannot take legal action on it.

Some one, please answer: Can i transfer my H1 with company (B) in this contract? there are some points which i should take care off?

    Please help.

        H1B transfer question-please help!

thanks to everyone for providing so much valuable information.I am kind of stuck and very worried.
        Here is my case
        -
I am on my 4th year of H1B(I had a few H1B transfers before), and working fulltime in a US based software company.(direct-hire). My company isn't doing good , and I am planning to apply for a new job. I am worried about H1b transfer during these uncertain times. I have all my w2s, paystubs etc, but if I get a job as either direct-hire/consultant, do you guys think there would be any issues?
If my transfer gets rejected, will I be out of status? (i have an EAD from my husband's filing, but we wont get GC for at least next 3 yrs). does having EAD help in anyway?

        thank you all for help!
