    Why do people staying in U.S go to Canada/mexico for VISA stamping

    I recently got H1B (was on OPT). I am planning to visit India. Can anyone tell me Why do people staying in U.S go to Canada/mexico for VISA stamping? Is there any advantage. only thing I can see is it costs a lot to go to canada/mexico.
