H4 to H1B - Travel Issue

I am on H-4 VISA (which is valid till May 2009) and in USA now. I am planning to file H-1B in April 2008. I wish to travel to India in June 2008 for 3 weeks, assuming my H-1B petition is approved, and return back to USA on H-4 in July 2008.

- Will it affect my H-1B status?
- Can I start working from Oct 2008 w/o any problem?

Please advice in this regard it’s very urgent.
