H1 stamping CHENNAI query -URGENT

HI All

I had applied for H1 Visa stamping and H4 stamping for my wife simultanoesly.

But the consulate has asked for additional documentation,
1)list of petitions filed by my petitioner and the current
whereabouts of them.

2)List of ongoing projects and the clients, with contact
information in each case.

The most intriguining part is they have sent back all my original
educational & work exp docs, and also our marraige certi and
photos.

BUT THE CONSULATE HAS RETAINED ALL DOCS PERTAINING TO MY
PETITIONER, also my I-797, LCA etc.

Can you kindly help my in figuring out as to why they have sent
some docs back and retained some.What could be the likely motive,
in doing so.

And how can i overcome this query.

Your help would be highly revered.

i am going to apply for both H1 and H4 simutaneously at Chennai consulate. Did you got your visa stamped and do you mind posting the list of documents?
