H1b Visa-enter Us From Canada By Car

Hi,
I got my H1B visa and i am currently working on canada on work-permit,in montreal canda.
Pls advise/help regarding below questions.

1. I like to enter US by car ,FROM CANADA -> what are the documents and other necessary things,the customs are checking.
Is it advisable to enter by car.

2. Is there any documents/fees the customs will ask for taking the car into US.

3. Which will be the good port to make the entry.I am closer to NY state.
