H1 status during unemployed period

I am planning to change my status from H4 to H1.

1. I would like to know the max time period to stay unemployed with valid H1 status after getting H1 visa.

2. Iam related to software and i would like to know whether there are any job opportunities to do work from home.

Please help.

On an H1b, there is no time period that you can be unemployed. You must have a job at all times.

some companies do allow telecommuting (work from home).
