L1 to H1B change of status

can i use my H1B visa?
Context: I got H1B visa in oct 2006 and i got it stamped in Mar 2007 from A company but i didnt not come on H1B. because while i was working for Company B in india still , it transferred me to USA on L1 visa . Now i am just doing advanced planning in case Company B layoff me ( i am currently on L1-b Visa), is my H1 B Visa valid.
Can
1. A company employ me on that same H1 visa on which it sponsporred for me
2. Or do i need to apply for a new H1 Visa in this 2008 quota?
