Changing from H4 to H1

Hi,
I am planning to apply H1 for my wife for this april. She is currently on H4 status.

Query: After applying H1 and if she need to visit india in the mean time say before october '08, can we use the H4 to return form India or she is siupposed to travel as h1 is in process?

Changing from H4 to H1

After applying for H1, its not suggested to travel to India. Because, if the H1 is approved while she was in India, then her H1 will become invalid and she will remain on H4. To be on safer side its better for your wife to travel once H1 is approved. But the catch is while coming back she has to get her H1 stamped.This advice was given by an attorney to me.
