Visa and Passport Expires

Hi,
Currently I am in US, my Visa expires on 01-June-2008 and my passport Expires on 25-May-2009. I have applied for Visa Extension and got the petition valid till 2011. This year on October, I am planning to go to India.
What can I do?
- My Visa Expires
- My Passport going to exipire in 7 months as of Oct. 2008
- In India I have to go for Visa renewal.

Whether I have apply for passport renewal at DC and go to india OR Since I have 7 month of validity, I can go to india and get Visa.

Any one help me, in this regards.

Also starting from when I can apply for the renewal passport in Indian Embassy at DC.

You need the passport to be valid for 6 months for visa stamping. Passport can be renewed upto 12 months before it expires. Just apply for renewal with the consulate n whose jusrisdiction you reside, get a new passport, apply for the visa. The visa in old passport is valid as long as it does not expire.
