  • Stuck with PIMS verification in Calgary

    Guys,

I came to get my H1 visa stamaped from Calgary and the CO said that he didn't find any information about me in the PIMS (Petition Information Management System) so it can take 2-3 weeks to get the passport back.

I'm struggling to find any information about this new procedure. I got my H1 approval in April 2007 but never got time to go out of USA and get the visa stamped. So Now I came to Calgary (Canada) and the Counsler officer told me abt PIMS. I confirmed with my lawyer and he said there shouldnt be any problem with me getting the visa stamped

Can anyone please suggest me what can I do about this new requirement so I can get the visa stamped.

Thanks a million for your reply.

PMIS will take 2-3 days not 2-3 weeks.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

      Thanks for your reply.

Thing is I got my approval in Apr 2007 and at that time there was no such thing as PIMS.

So its possible that it will take 2-3 weeks to get the information in PIMS.

Or do you think even if I got my approval at a time when there was no PIMS system even then it wouldnt take more than 2-3 days??

Please let me know your experience with PIMS?

      Thanks a lot.

If they specifically said PMIS, then it will take a maximum period of 1 week, not more than that from others that I have seen.

Many people have successfully got PMIS verified even before their visit by emailing a copy of the I797 to the consulate email address from nvars website.

PMIS just ensures the petition presented is available in the database and all new petitions are automatically in the DB. Older ones are generally not in the database and hence the delay.

If it is a TAL verification or namecheck, then you are at their mercy.
