  • Transfer H1b visa to L1b visa

    Hi,
I got my h1b visa stamped this year. However I am getting a good offer from my current employer to move to US but this would be on L1 visa. Now I would like to convert my H1 to L1 visa. Will there be any problem when I do this. What are things I need to do if I go for this. Please let me know.

    Regards,
    Singh

You don't convert a L1b visa to L1. There is no such thing. They are two separate work visas. Your employer just applies for L1 and you get a new L1 stamp. Once in US, you can switch to another employer using the already approved H1b you have for cap exemption and getting a new approval from another employer.

      A) I have H1B Visa now, which is valid thru May 2009. if i go back to india and come back to USA AFTER May 2009 using my new L1B, will it be able to use my old H1B and switch to another job in USA.

You have to tell how many years of your H1b was used? What is the date of your I-94?
