H1B+Job termination--immediate help

Hello

My one of the closed friend got terminated from his current assignment.
So is any option he can negotiate with the employer about maintaining H1B visa status even without employment?

(a) How much time he has before he has to leave the country? or how soon he has to get the new h1 B?

(b) What if he goes on F2 status so does it difficult to get H1 B again? (For him to get on F2, his wife has to get first F1)

(c) In what case he has to face the H1 B cap?

(c) Is any other suggestion?

This is the ultimate question of the this year. The best I've ever come across so far.

The moment your closed friend is terminated, he can immediately apply for COS (possibly on the same day) to some other status (like B2) or apply for a H1 transfer.

Once he is cap counted, he is cap exempt as long as he has H1 time remaining.
