Consultant Giving Threats

Hi,
Just want to know, consultant is giving threats that if i would not join them they might take legal action against me.
I did not stamped H1 at all so far which got approved in 2008 and want me to start with them ASAP, but now i do not want to join them.
Can some one help?

Did you sign anything? like a contract? What kind of threats?

No one can force you to work. You are free to use the receipt # or the copy of approval notice and transfer to another employer that does not threaten you. Make sure the contract says that.

Thanks for the reply. No verbal threats but threats / warning in mail that if i do not join them they will take legal actions.

Get ur H visa transferred and show them the middle finger. Hope you did not sign any contract. If they ask you for H1 filing expenses, it would be unlawful, the company is supposed to bear that.
