  • Visa Application Name issue

    Hi,
This is regarding my H4 Renewal visa application forms. I have completed and submited the following online forms

    1. DS-156
    2. DS-157
    3. Petition details

I have a question regarding this.
I have filled the First name and Middle name as appearing in the passport. And Surname/Last Name as NA.
But now I am told that I have to use FNU in the First name section and the passport name in the Last Name section of the forms.

Is this correct, Can I modify the forms now? I already have the interview letter from the consulate.

Or, is it okay to leave it as it is?

The guidelines in the VFS site does not say anything about mentioning FNU in the First and Middle name section..

    Please advise in this regard.

    Thanks in advance

The guidelines in VFS clearly mentions that if Last name is blank on the passport, enter the entire given name under last name and put FNU in first name. You have to modify the application or they will make you do that which will be a greater inconvenience.

It is also mentioned on immihelp.

      Wha can i do?

Any idea how I can modify it now in the application form? As I said, I have already submitted the form.. When i try to retrieve the form, these sections are grayed out not allowing me to make any changes?

My earlier visa reflects my last name as my full name and first name as FNU. Now, my question is, since I have already submitted the form and if there is no way to make changes, will the Visa officer make the necessary changes?

If not, is there a possibility that my visa might get rejected for this reason?

Visa will not be rejected for that reason. Check out evisaforms and fill out a new one and take it with you in addition to the one from VFS.

What happens to the already submitted one?

Thank you so much for the info.
If I fill a new DS 156 form and take it with me,Does this mean that, the earlier one that I submitted will be considered invalid?

            Cancel and rebook?

Can i cancel the appointment and rebook it? Will this give me an opportunity to refill the forms?

If I remember right, you can modify forms upto 2 days before the interview. Some fields are grayed out. You can send an email with the change and reason to VFS and they can change the fields as well.

I think cancelation will give you a chance to fill out the forms again but you may not get the same date. I have not done it recently, so you may wait for others' opinion.
