L1 to H1 Transfer

Hi I came to US with L1 visa and applied for H1 visa frm a different company, also got the H1 papers(My Attorney told my status was changed from L1 to H1). last month i went to india and came back with new L1 visa.

Now i want to transfer from L1 to H1 visa. Want to Know wether my old H1 visa is valid or not? If yes can i get the stamping in US itself?

Please advise me URGENT

A company has applied for a change of status for me from L1 to H1. Their immigration dept says if I leave the US while the H1 application is in process, the H1 application becomes void. And, once I get my H1 approval, my L1 is invalid. Don't know if the H1 is valid if u come back in a new L1.
