h1B to L1 B and again to H1. Path?

I came to US on my H1B Visa the visa was valid from Oct 2005 to Oct 2008. In 2007 April my employer filed for my L1 visa and it was approved. In December 2007 I went to India and got the L1 B stamped and came back o US. When the L1 was stamped the issuing officer crossed my H1 Visa stamp. Now my question is, if I want to change my job, will I/ my new employer have to wait for the new H1 B quota to open up. Or since I was already counted, the new employer can file for my H1 any time?

The cancellation of visa does not mean your ability to get on H1b is gone. Your new employer can apply for a H1b petition as long as you have remaining time on your H1b. Search for "remainder option" and go through that thread.
