For an H1, a Bachelor's degree equivalent to a 4-yr US Bachelor's degree in the field is the minimum requirement.

You have a degree in Finance and you want to switch over to IT, correct? Then, according to me, you may have problems as you have to qualify for the proffered job. Getting a job in your field is the way to go.

H1 is not exclusively for the software/IT folks. I do not work in IT/Software. If you have a job offer from an employer in the industry of your choice and background, they can very well apply for your H1. You qualify for the General H1 cap based on your education provided you have a job in your field.
