Change employer before approved H1B is effective

My H1B has been approved in the advanced degree quota. Currently I am on OPT so I can work for any company but I want to change my company and work for another employer (full-time). Since my H1B is sponsored by my current employer but will be effective from October 1st, can I transfer my H1-B to another employer ?

Wont my current employer just pull back the application from USCIS and have it cancelled since I will not be working with them and they have spent all the costs for the H1B application
