I received my H1B renewal notice recently and wanted to mail my passport to St. Louis for revalidation. Do you know if the process is still functioning smoothly after the Sep11 events. I need to have my passport back by mid-December. Thanks for your help in advance.

Another Question- Do we need to send the original I-797 approval notice or just a copy. I just noticed the DOS website says "A photocopy is acceptabe"!! -

My guess is that the process should be functioning normally.
In my case it took 5 weeks. Sometimes it might take longer. Even though mid Dec is a good 8-9 weeks away, the time might be sufficient, as along as there are no complications. I sent just a photocopy of my approval notice. It proved sufficient. Please your discretion depending on your situation.
