H1 recieved and pending...OPT ends 15th june......have cap gap....wat to do?

Hi All.....

I have applied for H1 this April n application statues is recieved and pending. Im currently on my OPT which ends June 15th.....im worried abt my cap gap .....is anybody in a similar situation. Can anyone advice me wat to do? Do i need to get another i-20 or the will the cap gap be legal once my h1 is accepted.?

You have 60 days after OPT ends of legal stay. After that, you have to leave the country or maintain some other status if you don't want to. It is unlikely that the COS to h1b will happen which will require you to get a visa stamp and return back on H1b after getting a visa stamp or file another amendment and wait for it to be approved.

How about the OPT extension for STEM graduates? Did you look into that?
