L2-EAD to H1B Transfer

Hi,

I have L2 EAD and its valid upto Sept 2008.I am in US and would like to change my status from L2 to H1B(provided i get selected in lottery for this year). Is it possible to do it in USA itself or do I need to go back to India(home country) to get the h1b stamped?

When does your L2 status expire? Did your employer apply for a COS along with H1?

FYI, I think most people who got selected already got receipts (unconfirmed sources).

A COS is possible if your current status continues till the COS effective date, Oct 1st. This can be done even after your a Consular Processing (CP) H1 has been approved. Your H1 employer will need to apply for an amended petition (I-129) to request a COS on a previously approved CP H1.
