  • Prospects of Biotechnology in USA

    Hi,

I want to know how is the Biotechnology field in USA to apply H1. And how can we find employers who can sponsor the H1. Please throw a light if anyone is into this field.

    Thanks.

You will find good companies in this field. But from outside the US, the prospects of finding one is difficult. You will not find any shady employers that process H1b for such a sector by taking money.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

In US you will definitely need to do PhD. And after PhD 2-3 years of post-doctoral experience (very less salary). Good luck

---- Yes, the field of Bioterchnology (BT) is just fantastic in the USA. Nowhere else in the world you have so many companies big and small claiming the term of Biotechnology. It all depends on the perspective you have
and the area of your expertise

---- For a start define your area of work, target the companies on the web. Sticking to the word BT will not fetch you many links. Look for adjacent areas of work and other allied industries where the knowledge of BT is useful though not the area of your interest, but you can work your way up

---- Since this is a specialized area there are few openings at the higher level and if you are aiming for them, you may have to stretch your luck. NO doubt having a Ph.D may help your cause, but your exact areas of work define what the company is looking for

---- In order to help you further create different resumes for different areas of work and activities. Do not stick to hi-fi areas where a novice is not welcome

---- To make a long story short, the undersigned entered US on H1 with a Ph.D from a leading Univ in India from India and now working for companies in diverse fields and in the senior management cadre.

---- All other advice you will receive from the forum are by people and for people in the IT industry. All said and done these people feel that H1 is for IT sector and other sectors are considered as secondary. I am very much aware that there will be many posts coming out against my statement, but folks will miss the point and not talk about it. Well, everything is welcome

---- If you still feel there can be further guidance and advice on this topic post you queries once again, see the responses and help even others who are seeking similar information
