Incorrect visa status on I-94

Hi,

I came to US in Dec 07 on H4. I recently realised that the immigration department at the port of entry have stamped my I-94 as H1B (which I think is inaccurate). Is it ok or do I need to get it corrected? If yes, then how?
Also I had filed for H1B this year and it has been approved with COS effective 1st October. Will having the I-94 corrected back to H4 affect my H1B?

It is a serious problem and you need to go back to any international airport with a CBP office and get it corrected. Obvious errors like this are corrected easily at CBP. Ensure you take proof of your H4 visa, your spouse's H1b status etc.

The last action rule counts and if you get the I-94 corrected to H4 now, it will still become H1 after Oct 1st.
