I-94 validity

I got my new H1-B in Nov,1999 valid till 2002. I noticed an I-94 valid till 2002 attached to the new H1-B. I went to India in Apr 2000 and while coming back I showed my old H1-B and got a new I-94 valid till Sep,2000 ( My old H1-B expires in Sep, 2000). My question is can I stay in USA with after 1st Sep, 2000?

I got this doubt as one of my lawyer friend told me that the latest Apr, 2000 I-94 is valid , not the I-94 that came along with H1-B extension!!!

Any help is highly appreciated.

You should have given both the I-94s back while leaving US and you should have shown the new H1B to get the later dated I-94.

country and get new I-94?

Also is there anyway I can revalidate my I-94?

entered incorrectly

You should have shown the new H1 and the date on I-94 WILL be based on the h1. This can be corrected at the port of entry /INS office(?). This happened to me and it was corrected at the port of entry.
