I am on H1B Visa. One month ago, I joined another company A and but they are still looking for me a project and till now I haven't received any paycheck. Once I will get the project, they will pay me.
Is it a problem for H1B worker without the paycheck?
How many days legally I can stay without paycheck?
My employer told me that you could file leave of absence during these periods of time. Is it the correct process?

If you are not getting paid, it is a problem.

You can't stay without getting paid.

You can't take leave of absence and stay here without working. Only reason you are in this country is that the employer needs somebody to do his work and as he can't get Americans to do it, he has got permission from INS for you to work temporarily.

So you are in this country as long as there is a job for you.

If you don't work/get paid, you are illegal in this country. Find another job ASAP.

What happens if the company is not able to pay immediately
but the candidate does have the project to work on.

If they can't pay you immediately, you can't stay.
