H1B transfers - twisted situation

Hi,
I used to work for company Y and I transfered my H1B to company X in Apr 2007.
I have a valid H1B with company X since Apr 2007 and so I started working for company X since then and am still working for company X. Company Y applied for my H1B extension on Nov 2007. I got approval notice by the end of nov 2007. Now it is july. Almost 6 months after approval. Can I join company Y now....or do I need to apply another H1B for company Y.

You can join if the I-94# remains the same and the petition is valid for Y meaning you have not tarvelled outside the US since then. It may be possible even if there was travel but it is risky. Talk to your attorney if your case involved travel after approval.
