On H4 - H1B approved - going to India

Hello,

My wife is on H4 and she has the status but she doesnt have a visa.
Her H1 is approved now starting Oct 1st 2008.
She is travelling to India in August.

She has to either get her H4 visa stamed or H1B visa stamped to come back to US.

Can she come back on H4 visa? or Does she have to come back only on H1B?
I was told that if she goes for H4 stamping, her H1 would get void. Is that true?

If we have to get her H1B stamped, how early can she go for stamping if she has all the necessary documents and how early can she step in US? ( Can she come to US in Aug/Sept on H1B)

We are planning to get her H4 stamping done and later apply for change of status after she comes back to US. Will there be any problem with this?

Can anyone help me with this?

What you have been told is wrong. Read many similar posts from other people in the recent weeks in the H1b section of the forum. There were 2 of them today.
