Hi, I am working with employer A on L1 and have an approved H1 from employer B. The employer B is asking me to join on 6th Oct and not on 1st October, is this okay? Can I quit employer A before or on 1st October to get a few days break or should I continue working with them on L1 till Oct 3rd, in case there are some going-out-of-status issues?

you should be on H1 from the very first day of starting date, in your case Oct 01.

You could possibly join on Oct 6th and work on H1b but need to be paid from Oct 1st as that is when your employer said they have a job available when they applied for the H1b but you should not work on L1 after Oct 1st.
