H1B Approval sent to Mumbai stamping in Chennai

Dear Experts,

My H1B petition's approval had been sent to Mumbai consulate but as a resident of Chennai I believe I'm suppossed to make the application for stamping at the consulate in Chennai. I'm sure to be redirected to Chennai at Mumbai consulate but my questions are : (1) If I'm redirected is there a minimum waiting period (2) Can I directly apply to the consulate in Chennai without going to Mumbai?

I've been told by my employer that I-820 - reprint of H1B approval and change of consulate takes about 1 year !!! I've seen other threads in this forum on this topic, but nobody updates what happenned to their approval once they went to Chennai.

you have to prove that you are staying in Chennai, there is no problem if in your approval written Mumbai and you will attend interview anywhere with current residence in the world. it's doesn't matter. best luck
