Regarding conversion of B1 to H1

Dear Sir

I am a Physician from India. I am currently in US on a B1 Visa. I have contacted the Internal Medicine Residency program director of Lutheran Hospital Brooklyn NY. who has assured to offer me a position, provided i give him evidence that B1 Visa can be converted to H1 Visa & also the details of proceeding with such process. I am Taking my Step 3 in January 2009. Kindly help me through this process & let me know about the details of what is required to be done.

You can apply change of status by having an employer file an H-1B petition for you. However, it will be subject to H1 cap and earliest they can file is April 1, 2009 to start working from October 1, 2009.
