Nowadays the US Consulates in Mexico are insisting that folks with appointments obtain a valid Mexican travel document. This is a must have in case there are delays in issuance of visa. I have gone through the process and believe that it is simple and cheap enough and well worth it. Especially those traveling with families, traveling to Mexico without a valid Mexican travel document, is not worth the risk in the current scenario.
The charge for the Mexican travel document is USD 36.00 and the following documents are needed in support of the application:
PASSPORT COPY - MAIN PAGE WITH PHOTO & NAME. ONECOPY USA ViSA PAGE
ONE COPY of I-797
DRIVER LICENSE COPY FOR ADDRESS (optional)
LATESST PAY STUB WITH COMPANY NAME
VISA APPOINT LETTER COPY
ONE PASSPORT PHOTO
The Mexican consulate will typically return passport with visa on the next day.
