  • DS-156 wrong information in Q:1-14

While booking appointment for my wife's H4 visa, I wrongly entered her place of birth in the DS1-56 form.
Once submitted I am not able to edit it.
Also the correct place of birth is a different country than the one I entered first.
Do you suggest me to correct it in the hard copy of DS-156 that my wife would carry for the interview ?

First Question -- where are you applying from?
    India?
    US?

I recently filled out the 156 form in India.
    I did make some mistakes.
Spoke to the VFS agent, he was fine with those mistakes.

    Possible options:
-- Change it in hard copy, only if the VFS officer says its ok.
U can contact VFS agent by phone or in person.

    -- Redo the form again.

VFS is a third party and has got only to do with the facilitation and running the appointment management system.

It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure the info on DS156 is correct and if not, correct it using a pen before the interview.

If VFS says it is ok, it is not true as YOU are the one that signs the form, not VFS.

If using evisa form for Canada/Mexico, the information is embedded in the barcode (not VFS) and you have to re-do the form.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

          Hello,

If there are more than 2 business days (for Chennai, for Mumbai it's 5 business days) left for your appointment, you CAN correct the information on all documents except for those that are automatically filled.
          Hope this helps.

          Cheers,
