  • Australian PR - Can I work in the US without a visa?

    Hello all,

I am currently on H1B working in the US for the past 3 years. I would like to apply for Australian PR and initially it looks like I have enough points to start up. My question is, if I get the PR in the next year or so, can I leave the US and come back to work in the US on Australian PR without a valid H1 visa?

How does Australian PR give one ability to work in US without authorization/visa? Aren't these different countries?

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

Well that is exactly my question . Pardon me for my ignorance, but I was told that if I have PR from certain countries, one can set up their own business in the US without the hazzle of business visa. So thinking in those terms (provided that it is a fact), I was wondering the same rule applies for work visa. Also, can having PR from Australia give me an edge in the 485 processing times (for eg. does one come under All Accountability category)?? Please clarify.
      Thanks
      B

You have to look into Investor Visa category. You would still need a visa.

          dude,

          1) You need working visa Either H1b or E3 even if you are Australian Citizen. You can't work without appropriate US work visa Period! They only allow certain countries to go to US for 90 days for Family visit or Busness meeting or so without visa.It still depends what story you give them at POE.
Rest of the rules are same for everyone.Doesn't matter which country you blelong to.

2)You need to apply for investor visa. And wait for couple of years for some results Not sure what result they look for while you doing your business in US but you need a investor visa.Having a Australian PR or citizenship won't do anything you have to stand in the same queue like evrybody else.
