H1 approved --> H4 stamping?

Hi,
I'm Vani.

I got my h1 approved recently(2008). I havn't appeared for h1 visa stamping yet and currently i'm in India.

Now I'm planing to get married next month and then go for H4 stamping.

can i do this?
will the h1 be still valid as I have not appeared for h1 visa stamping?
if valid can I convert from H4 to H1 after coming us and then start working?
