Changing status from H1B to H4 !

Please advice on this. My friend's wife's status was converted to H1B sometime back but as she could'nt find a project yet, would like to convert it back to H4. Is it necessary to go out of the USA and get H4 stamped again. Please advice.

---- There is no need, but apply for a COS from H1 to H4right away. The longer you are without job on H1, your illegality increases
