    H4 / H1 doubt

    Hi,

    I have I797. But i entered US on H4(my husband's H1B). To start working do i need to apply for COS to H1B? or can i apply directly for SSN? what is the procedure?

    Yes, you need to do a COS. Search and read the FAQs/forum.

      You cannot apply COS. Your employer has to file COS from H4-H1.
      H4 visa holder is not eligible for SSN but he/she can apply for ITIN.
