hi ,
i am on h4 visa valid till sep 2009,i got h1b through a consultancy,but i have not received any documents regarding my h1b approval from them.i am going india in april for 3 weeks and coming back on h4 visa.my consultant will look for job from april only,how long is my h1b approval valid ?is it a longer period ?will my h1b get cancelled becos i havnot strted working for 7 months from effective date?

No, you are NOT on H4 if the H1b was approved with a COS as of Oct 1st. You are out of status as you need to be working and getting paid on H1b all the time.

Go see a lawyer as you don't seem to know the problems. There is nothing like an inactive H1b if it was approved with a COS. No special activation procedure exists.

You need to complain to DOL about the non payment of wages. WH4 form. read hundreds of similar posts and educate yourself about the mess you are in.
