H1 Transfer Mess....Please Help!

Folks, please advice.

I was laid-off from company A in September 2008. I immediately joined Company B and they applied for my H1b transfer. Today, my H1b transfer is still in process and I got a RFE. The RFE response in in progress and now I got a good job offer from Company C. I want to transfer my H1 to company C. Can I do that while I have a RFE on earlier transfer?

Company A may have canceled my H1 but I don't know. I have all the payslips etc from both Company A and Company B. Can i apply for a transfer from B->C.

Please suggest my options.

What is the RFE about? When does the employer A I94 expire? The following may apply.

My I-20 from A expires in 2010. RFE is about what project I am currently on and some other details about employer.

Employer says he will respond to the query. I was thinking of transferring the visa to another vendor as I'm already on a long-term project.
