passport and VISA renewal

Hi friends:

My passport is expiring on 09/09, so do my H1B visa. Actually my visa was renewed in 2007; and I think the officer gave 2 yr extension only, during last time renewal, since the passport had 2 yr validity then.

Anyways If i renew my passport now, what should be the procedure for
H1B renewal? Is this the same as last renewal? and also since I've already consumed 5 yrs of my H1B span, am I going to get renewed just for a year only and I need to go for renewal again next year?

I have my I140 approved, how does that work this time?

Lastly I am planning to go to India this May. So is that OK if i do my passport renewal and stamping after I return? Will there be any problems, at port of entry, with just 4 month valid passport and/or visa?

---- By the above statment you mean that your I-94 is valid for a period of 2 years. When you renew your H1, your I-94 will also be extended

---- If your I-140 is approved you can renew your H1 for a period of 3 years form the day it actually expires. You can apply for the renewal 6 months ahead of time to ensure that your H1 is renewed in time. You have allready been through one renewal and the second it will be the same

---- To be safe and sound get your Passport renewed while you are in the US and have a new Passport for the next 10 years. The visa on your old Passport will still remain valid
