H1 Visa Extension in Canada - Need Help

Hello,

My H1 visa stamped on passport will expire in sept 2009. I've received new I797 approval from my current employer & its valid till 2010. I'm planning to go toronto,canada for Visa stamping. Kindly suggest with

- What all documents I require to get visa renewed.
- Visa extension process takes 1 or 2 days, till I get stamped passport in hand.
- In this recession time, Its bad idea to get it stamped now?

Any inputs is highly appreciated.

You don't have to go for stamping unless you have to leave the US and return for some reason. All you must do is to keep your I-94 valid. You can apply for extension if that is expiring. Going to a third country for stamping is not advised, they can send you to your home country.
