What happens in Change of status from H4 to H1

Changed status from H4 to H1-B.
Could any one please confirm if H4 continues to be be valid? Can extension be applied for H4 Or should one get cos from H1 to H4.

The question is not clear.

If COS to H1 has been approved, you on H1. Hence, you cannot apply for H4 extension as H4 is not your status. This would require another COS from H1 to H4. You must be in status to apply for any COS.
