Traveling Mexico with expired H1B visa

my first 3 yrs H1B expired on 2008 and was renewed again... which will expire on 2011. Now my passport doesnt have new visa. But am planing to go mexico for a week and my lawyer said i can go and DONT need to get stamping IF i am there for less than 30 days. old visa should be sufficient.... He told me according to "sec. 41.112" its safe to go, just have to carry few documents. ANY FEEDBACK... SUGGESTIONS... EXPERIENCE??
