RFE response

Hello,

I've the following questions:

a) Normally how many days does USCIS take to respond to an RFE ?
In their website they mention, it's within 60 days they decide on a case.
A friend's RFE is pending with USCIS for the last 3 months.

b) My friend calls the emplyer about knowing the status. The employer says it's the same that you see on the website. They tell not to call the USCIS and not to talk to them because USCIS may feel that something fishy is going on. Is this true or is the employer fooling ?

There is no value in calling USCIS as they will not reveal anything as H1b is employer's petition.

The status could still be pending. The 60 days is just a guideline and not a rule.

Yes, my friend called USCIS. They took all the details about him and at the last asked him if he is accompanying the employer. If yes, only then they would reveal the most recent information.
