eligibility to stay in United states

i m currently on h1-B visa ...and wife in COS from h4 to f1 .....i was laid off today ...
i just wanted to know how long can i or my wife stay in United States under these conditions.....my wife applied for COS in nov 08 ....
also submiited all the RFE documents last week at california center

kindly help..

Zero days for you. Your wife could remain as long as her COS to F1 is pending or an action is taken on it.

You need to apply for a COS to B2 or both of you get a F1/F2 stamp abroad and enter.
