Documents for H4 visa - is original I-797 required?

Dear Friends,

I am currently in US on H1 visa. My wife is going to Hyderabad Consulate for H4 visa. I need help regarding I-797 document.

Do I need to send the original I-797 to my wife? or a copy would suffice?

Original. You keep the I-94.
