H1B Extension Query

Hello,

My H1B I-94 expiry date is May 30, 2009. My employer has filed for the extension with USCIS on March 1, 2009.

My question is if the H1B extension is approved on April 15th, would the start of the new petition be June 1, 2009 or April 15, 2009.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
